Convention Contradictions Courtesy of Jon Stewart
Laura shared this clip from the Jon Stewart show highlighting some awesome contradictory statements from the presidential election. I can’t stop thinking about a couple of things;
the audience at the Republican National Convention chanting “Drill Baby Drill”
politicians changing their stories to suit their needs regarding: qualifications of candidates, teenage pregnancy and what it means […]

Denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism - sound familiar?
I recently joined facebook and noticed that people have some intriguing ‘favorite quotations’ on their profiles. I read a bunch of quotes on friends’ profiles and realized that quotations are really thought-provoking especially considering context and time. I heard this quote the other day while listening to the radio. It really made me think…. It […]

Food Spurt
I’ve been cooking but I haven’t been posting. I finally cleaned out my camera and here’s a quick rundown of recipes I’ve tried recently.
Confetti Rice Salad & Orange-Chipotle Glazed Tofu from June 2008 Vegetarian Times

Olympics Excitement! US men win 4×100m free relay
I’m sure a lot of people caught the Olympics coverage last night. If you did, you probably had trouble sleeping like me. I watched the US men come from behind to win the 4×100 relay in spite of trash talking by the French team. It was thrilling! I just watched it again and it gave […]

Pity the Fool!
My main squeeze and I have been together for 6 years as of today. I wouldn’t normally write a post about it but I wanted to show you the funny card I got him. The card features a real quote from Cleopatra. More quotable cards here.

My Love for the Internet Endures
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by email.
Sometimes I feel annoyed at the stack of online articles I’ve saved for future reading.
Sometimes I dread seeing my Google Reader display (1,000+) indicating unread posts from my favorite blogs.
Then something comes along and reminds me why I love the Internet.
and Holly’s favorite,

Melissa & Justin’s Wedding
Melissa and Justin wed over the Fourth of July weekend in Jekyll Island, GA. The weekend was lots of fun and included bike rides, pool time, beach time, and a fireworks show. More importantly, their wedding was absolutely beautiful. See all of my pictures my Shutterfly collection (link to the right).

Laurie & Nick Tie the Knot!
That beautiful bride is my cousin, Laurie. She and Nick tied the knot last weekend in Toledo, OH in front of an audience of family and friends. (I omitted last names to prevent random people from finding this site via Google). I had a great time hanging out and catching up with my Warner family.
I […]

Summer TV - Monday Night Documentaries
HBO has a special summer program called the HBO Documentary Films Series where they premiere a documentary every Monday night. I watched Resolved on Monday night and was totally impressed. It covered modern debating, changes in debating practices, diverse opinions about what debating should be. The real compelling aspect of the film was the comparison […]

Mangoes, I still love you
My sister-in-law’s throat always itches when she eats Mango Salsa. Now I know why - mangoes and poison ivy are members of the same family! Don’t worry mangoes - I still love you.

Man Food: Fiery Fish Tacos
The man of the house made these awesome Fiery Fish Tacos with Mango & Avocado Salsa earlier this week. The recipe is out of an old issue of Men’s Health Magazine. The recipe is not posted on their site (bummer), but this similar recipe is posted.
The picture doesn’t do this meal justice. He grilled/blackened the […]
